BEND – New and expecting in need mothers located in Central Oregon will have an opportunity to experience a unique, one of kind baby shower, It Takes a Village: A Community Baby Shower, hosted by National 501(c)3 non-profit The Rebecca Foundation’s Cloth Diaper Closet aka TRFCDC. TRFCDC’s headquarters have recently relocated to Bend as of February of this year. Since that time they have looked for a way to help financially struggling expectant mothers and infants as they work to secure a location for a diaper bank that will collect and distribute cloth and disposable diapers for Deschutes County families.

In August, Co-Founder Amanda La Bell launched the idea to host a baby shower after recently experiencing the same hardships faced by many expectant families in Central Oregon. “I am due in October with a little boy. My family relocated to Bend from Texas so that my husband could take a new position with his company of 7 years. After 45 days upon our arrival he was laid off from that company. This shed a light for us on how fragile and quickly life can change for so many families today.” She continues “For in need mothers, there is a desert of services available and affordability concerns over many of the items needed to prepare for a newborn. Our goal with the baby shower is to provide a fun and joyful baby shower to help reduce the stress these families are facing”.

It Takes a Village : A Community Baby Shower will take place at the end of September at the Central Oregon Collective. Any mother expectant due over the next six months or a new mother is invited to register as an invitee for this event online. Visit www.ittakesavillage.clothforall.org. Each invitee who registers will receive a gift bag full of wonderful baby items from many sponsoring companies such as Applecheeks, Fridababy, ThinkBaby, CozyCheeks, Mommy Moosli and more. This event has also been fully supported by Deschutes County WIC, Grandma’s House and Department of Human Services.

We are still looking for many local sponsors for this event and invite any business to visit www.ittakesavillage.clothforall.org to learn more about the event and how they can sponsor.
